Sky drops Rooney`s show

London: Wayne Rooney`s reality TV series ‘Street Striker’ has been dropped by Sky just days after Coca-Cola ended its 600,000-pound-a-year sponsorship deal with the foul-mouthed Premier League star.

The Manchester United star will not be appearing in another series of his popular show, which saw him lead a nationwide search to find the country’s best young footballer. The programme, sponsored by Coca-Cola’s Coke Zero drink, was first shown in 2008. The third series ended last November and Sky will not be screening a fourth. “Street Striker was a programme in partnership with Coke Zero. It was a great success for Sky 1, but we have no plans for another series,” the Daily Mail quoted a spokesman of the broadcaster as saying. Rooney’s spokesman also confirmed he would no longer be presenting the series with Sky 1. “Wayne Rooney’s company produced the series and continues to own the rights to the Street Striker logo and format. There are already several commercial partners showing interest and there will undoubtedly be another series, possibly on another platform,” his spokesman said. Last week it emerged that Coke had ended its six-year relationship with Rooney at the end of 2010. ANI
