Macca’s ‘bland’ ballet debut fails to impress critics

Washington: The Beatles legend Sir Paul Mccartney’s first ever ballet has been panned by the critics, who branded the show forgettable and bland.

McCartney, 69, has ventured into the world of ballet by writing the score for ‘Ocean’s Kingdom’ for the New York City Ballet. But, early reviews for the 50-minute show have been less than favourable. “Never less than agreeable, but in no way an important addition to the corpus of ballet music,” Contactmusic quoted a critic for the New York Times as commenting on MCCartney’s score. “Ocean’s Kingdom isn’t offensive: it’s just harmless, forgettable, bland, thin and occasionally incompetent,” he added.
