Washington: Jay-Z is planning to become a DJ and intends to charge double the amount of what top professionals in the field receive when they perform in marriages and other events.The ‘99 Problems’ hitmaker said he would soon buy a system to meet his requirement for becoming a DJ.
"I`ve got a whole plan. I`m gonna get me a little Serato set, some DJ software. I`m gonna work on that for six months, then I`m gonna find out which DJ makes the most and charge double and tour, do bar mitzvahs, weddings," a news website quoted him as saying.
He added: "I`m gonna have video behind me and dancers. I`m gonna have people just go out and pour champagne when I get to a certain song. I`m going to make a whole show of this thing.”
The rapper who is married to singer Beyonce suggested that he would charge heavily once he excelled in the trade.
He added: "If you want to book me, book me early, because the prices will be a little better because when I get good, I`m really going to go for it."
Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, also plans to take up a different name to go with it.
He said: "I`m definitely going to go by a different name. I want people to hear it and be like, DJ Wow!`. It`s got to look good in lights."
