Mumbai: Prakash Jha the director of Katrina starrer ‘Rajneeti’ was really amazed to see the actress portray the role he had etched for her with ease and with so much conviction. From playing a glamdoll to a politician, it seems Kat can pull it all. Not that, this is a tough job for all, but for someone like Katrina, who hails from Britain, cementing her feet in Hindi film industry was not an easy feat.
The role required Kat to memorize long lines in chaste Hindi and orate before a crowd of thousands. At the same time, Kat was also required to bring out the complexities of her character. But she took the bull by its horns, accepted the challenge and, according to Jha, emerged victorious.
Interacting with the media, Prakash Jha said in a press conference held recently, “Katrina is inspiring. Her quality of work, innocence, honesty and dedication is extremely inspiring. The movie was very tough for Katrina and it took her a lot of courage and confidence to essay the role, give it her best. It`s my good luck that I cast her”.
The movie, ‘Rajneeti’, also stars Ranbir Kapoor as a young man who leaves his studies and an American girlfriend in the US and returns to India to carry forward the political legacy of his family.
“I am grateful to god that Ranbir agreed to play this role. He has put in days and nights of effort to play his character and he has done it with utmost honesty,” Jha said.
Speaking about ‘Raajneeti’, Jha said the film explores various “aspects involved in politics - personal, family, social, state, national. Basically, the film tries to showcase what happens in politics.”
