New Delhi: Former RBI deputy Governor Subir Gokarn's supposed meeting with incumbent central bank Governor Raghuram Rajan has sent specualtions running in the media circles about the appointment of next head of country's top most financial institution.

As per a report published in the Economic Times, Subir Gokarn whose term was not extended during his last stint at the RBI has supposedly met Rajan at the central bank on Friday.

Raghuram Rajan's three-year term will come to an end on September 4, as he announced in June that he would return to academia and not seek a second term.
