London: Boyband `JLS` has dramatically announced that they are splitting up five years after shooting to fame on ` X Factor`.
It took JLS - Aston Merrygold, Oritse Williams, J.B. Gill and Marvin Humes - three months to make the difficult decision to call it a day. The band, - which has sold more than 10 million records, had five number one singles and sold 1.5 million gig tickets - announced that they will do a farewell tour and release a greatest hits album before bowing out, the Mirror reported. Merrygold, who recently appeared on Sky One`s Got To Dance as a judge, told the publication that it`s just that time and they are still the best of friends and always will be - but this is the end. Meanwhile, Humes said that it is an emotional time and there is no getting away from that. The 28-year-old, who has recently signed up as a Capital FM DJ, said that they have been through so much together, but they have to be mature and look at this decision as a celebration of what they have managed to achieve. He added that they never wanted to overstay their welcome. Williams tweeted on Tuesday that he couldn`t sleep after a late-night gym session and posted a photo on Instagram. He said in the band`s interview with The Sun that he is not going to deny that he is sad, but it has been amazing. He said that he remembers that moment in his bedroom when JLS was just an idea and he was determined to make this dream a reality. The band was formed in 2007 and won two Brit Awards in 2010, as they became one of the country`s biggest pop bands. They returned last year with their fourth studio-album, Evolution. Former boyband frontman Ronan Keating, who was in Boyzone, tweeted: "Just heard the news about JLS." "Wish the boys the best in whatever it is they roll on too. They had a great run," he wrote. ANI
