New Delhi: Two decades ago she was the quintessential face of Indian television industry but actress Himani Shivpuri, who will be seen on the small screen after a long gap, feels TV actors have small shelf life.
Shivpuri, 52, who made her television debut with TV serial ‘Humrahi’, said television actors need to make their presence felt otherwise the audience easily forgets them.
"Today, television industry means pool of young talents and if you are not active in it then there are chances that you will be overshadowed by them. It is like newspaper where
old becomes stale. They have a small shelf life and it`s necessary to make yourself active in it," Shivpuri told PTI.
Originally a theatre artiste, Shivpuri feels that theatre gave the needed edge in her career as she got her first break with it.
"Television and films came much later into my life. I was travelling with my theatre group when I came across Kunwar Sinha who was directing ‘Humrahi’. He approached me after seeing a few of my performances," she said.
The actress is currently seen in Sab TV`s family comedy show ‘I Love My India’. The show is a family drama that revolves around Sethi Family residing in London for several
years and now they decide to return to India.
"I believe, if you look closely, all of us have some relatives or friends living abroad, who have to adjust to situations in India when they are here. So with these kind of situations people will be able relate with the issues closely.
With the show, we are trying to remind us of our cultural values in an amusing way," Shivpuri said.
