New York: Steven Tyler has spent 1.1 million dollars on a Hennessey Venom GT Spyder, a highly-modified version of the Lotus Exige that is being touted as the world’s fastest convertible.
The supercar can go a reported zero to 200 miles per hour in 15.9 seconds – eight seconds faster than a Bugatti Veyron, whose Super Sport model is the fastest street-legal production car on the roads today with a top speed of 268 mph.
A topless version of the Hennessey Venom GT, the Spyder comes with an additional 30 pounds of curb weight and 1,244 brake horsepower, in order to keep the power/weight ratio at one horsepower-per-kilogram. “Steven came to us last year and asked if we could build his Venom GT as a roadster,” the New York daily News quoted John Hennessey, owner of Hennessey Performance Engineering, as telling auto website Jalopnik. According to British TV show ‘Top Gear’, Tyler’s is only one of five Spyders that were built for the 2013 model year. Hennessey, who personally delivered the car to the rocker, also counts Jay Leno as one of his celebrity fans. Earlier this year, the Hennessey Venom GT was featured in a segment on the NBC host Jay Leno’s Garage website. ANI
