When you have some of world’s most loved superheroes come together to save the world, you cannot expect anything else but high voltage action. And Avengers doesn’t disappoint you one bit. With some mind blowing action sequences, visual drama, and superb special effects, ‘The Avengers’ lives up to its name. The story is pretty simple. The superheroes are rounded up by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), director of S.H.I.E.L.D to look for the Tesseract, the cube with special powers before the antagonist Loki (Tom Hiddleston) gets his hands on it. The cube, if placed in the wrong hands, can cause havoc on planet Earth. The superheroes are of course in different parts of the world and are summoned by Fury on an urgent basis. So you have Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) cooling off at Kolkata (Yes!), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) sweating it out with Russian goons and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) living the billionaire’s life. When the superheroes meet, obviously sparks fly. So what, if they have come together to save the world; it is also a battle of egos and who the best is. When it comes to performances, Robert Downey Jr. gets a special edge over others as the cool, suave and witty Tony Stark. Downey keeps up with his billionaire Casanova avatar and is absolutely charming. Scarlett Johansson’s looks good (as usual) and fights the bad guys superbly. Chris Evans as Captain America and Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) are also perfect in their roles. But perhaps, the surprise package of the film is Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk. A very unlikely choice for the giant’s role, Mark who has so far done serene subtle roles gives his everything to the character of Dr Bruce Banner. Watch it if you are Marvel comics fan and even if you aren’t, the special effects, the larger than life characters, the visual extravaganza will leave you wanting for more! Review: Four awesome cheers for this one!
