Los Angeles: Funnyman Martin Lawrence has filed for divorce from his wife of two years. The 47-year-old ‘Bad Boys’ star wed Shamicka Lawrence in July 2010 but the union did not last and the couple announced their separation last Tuesday, reported a website.
Lawrence filed for divorce the very next day in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences for the break-up.
In his divorce petition, the actor has requested joint physical and legal custody of their two kids, Iyanna, 11, and nine-year-old Amara Trinity.
Lawrence and his wife have released a joint statement, claiming, "Out of love and respect for one another, we will continue to remain friends and raise our two beautiful daughters together."
The estranged couple had a pre-nuptial agreement in place.
