New Delhi: After much media speculation, it has been revealed that Shabana Azmi will not be making a foray into Lollywood, Pakistani cinema.
Till very recently, the Pakistani media had reported that the National Award winning actress was going to make her debut in Paksitani films by doing a cameo in producer Wajahat Abbas Kazmi`s film, ‘The Dusk’. But the news was slammed by Azmi herself.
Producer Wajahat Kazmi had apparently announced in Pakistani media that Shabana will be seen in an important role in his film. He had said, "Well yes, the news is absolutely correct and Shabana Azmi will be here soon to act her part in the film. We hope that her presence in the movie will add extra value to it, It`s a small role but of a very important character."
When Azmi heard the news, she completely denied the news. Speaking to a daily, the actress said, "No, I haven`t given my consent for the film."
When Kazmi was asked to clarify by the same daily, the producer took a U-turn and said, "We are in contact with Azmi`s manager Carrol D`souza and have sent her a copy of the script. We are not sure if she will accept our proposal, but it would come as a big news if she said a `yes`."
Shabana Azmi had a different story to narrate. The actress said, "Wajahat had written to me about the film and mentioned about it to me, but I have yet to receive the script. Period."
Looks like the filmmaker is trying to sell his film by using the name of huge star like Azmi!
