The only aspect which is worth a mention in ‘The Book Of Eli’ is it’s lead actor Denzel Washington. Set on the much experimented post-apocalyptic concept, the film focuses on similar antics and screenplay that shows gloomy skies, desolate landscapes and the world falling apart.
However, its Denzel’s awe-inspiring act that makes this one a watchable affair. Talking about the storyline, the film shows Washington as a lone `walker` who has been heading west for some 30-plus years, after a `war` destroyed large chunks of civilization. He is on a journey to deliver a certain precious cargo to someone, out west. On his way he comes across hijackers and other human survivors who are trying to carve out a living for themselves in the debilitated times. Our lonely traveler is an expert when it comes to defending himself. Super quick with a nasty looking blade and super accurate with guns, he doesn’t mind taking lives on his way to reach his final goal (ie to deliver the package). The film has a series of loopholes. Nevertheless, if you are a die-hard Washington fan and want to watch him squinting at the sky, suffer from short bursts of violence and beat the never-intimidating villain Gary Oldman, then this one is your pick. As for the female attraction in the film, there is a minutes brief appearance by Mila Kunis. Her part is completely lost and one is left wondering about her role in the film. In all let “The Book Of Eli” is best left closed. Rating: One cheer for this one!
