London: Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger has reportedly said that he married two same-sex couples while he was the governor of California.
The 65-year-old, who was in the position from 2003 to 2011, performed two ceremonies for staff members who worked for him, reports a website.
He opened up about the weddings when asked about his stance on gay marriage during an interview with US news programme ‘60 Minutes’.
In an unaired segment posted on the show`s official site, he tells Lesley Stahl: "I always said that I have nothing against people doing what they want to do. If couple wants to get married, they should get married. I personally always said that marriage is between a man and a woman, but I would never enforce my will on people. I always want people to make that decision. If they want to get married, let them get married."
When asked if he went to the nuptials of his lesbian former chief of staff Susan Kennedy, he revealed: "I performed the wedding in the office. I married her in the office - in the governor`s office."
"I don`t have to be for gay marriage. I`m for that she gets the kind of wedding and the kind of ceremony that I had when I got married with (sic) Maria (Shriver). That she happens to love a woman, and I am - a guy that loves a woman, that is two different things. It doesn`t make any difference. She should still have her ceremony."
Schwarzenegger also told Stahl he agreed to oversee another same-sex wedding for an assistant who worked for him.
