Mumbai: Dark comedy `Shor In The City`opened to rave reviews and buoyed by the positive response, its director duo now want to explore overseas markets with their humane thriller that captures the restless moods of Mumbai.
"Right now we have just had an India release. The plan was to first release it here and see how it works. To release a film overseas, you need to do a lot of publicity. Now that it has generated so much buzz and positive response here, we feel it can travel much further and we can use this buzz," Krishna DK, one of the directors of the film, told reporters.
"Right now we don`t know when will we release it overseas, but I`m sure the producers will consider the option now. Also, we have a Hollywood face in the film, so that can make the film more acceptable abroad," he added.
Produced by Ekta Kapoor, the film has been co-directed by DK and Raj Nidimoru and stars Tusshar Kapoor, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Preeti Desai, Radhika Apte, Pitabosh and Nikhil Diwedi.
Sharing his happiness, Krishna said: "Raj and I are very thrilled. We were expecting that people will like the film, but the amount of positive response we have got is really great. We didn`t expect so much. It`s flattering. We are relieved now. Just waiting for the common man`s response now."
This is Krishna and Raj`s second film after `99`, which did not do very well at the box office.
When asked what have they learnt from past mistakes, Krishna said: "I think one thing we learnt from `99` was that it is important that a film is pacy. All is good if a film has it because that`s an instant likeable thing among the audiences. There`s a lot of people who look for instant gratification. So `Shor…` has a faster paced than `99`," he said.
After "Shor…", the duo are now looking forward to their next film, which they will direct for saif Ali Khan`s banner Illuminati Films.
"It`s an action comedy thriller. Fast faced, funny film. We are all geared up for that now. Kunal Khemu is the confirmed cast, others we are yet to decide," said Krishna.
