They will walk the ramp for a cause

Creations from top-rung fashion designers will be on sale for charity.

New Delhi: Creations from top-rung fashion designers like Ashish Soni, JJ Valaya, Manish Arora, Raghavendra Rathore, Rina Dhaka, Ritu Kumar, Suneet Verma, and Tarun Tahiliani will be on sale for a fund raising fashion show for underprivileged kids July 24. Organised by Khushii that works for underprivileged kids, the fashion show - Rendezvous with Elegance - is being organised by Leena Singh of designer duo Ashima-Leena who is also on the governing board of the NGO.
According to Leena, the funds raised in the show will be spent on education to millions of slum dwellers. "Fashion designers are mostly associated with glamour is not true. We definitely think about the society and look in for various avenues to contribute. As a designer, all I could do was to communicate my vision to other designers who too were keen to chip in for this show," Leena told IANS on the sidelines of a press conference here Wednesday. "Every designer has made two outfits. Various known-faces would walk the ramp in their creation. Fortunately, the people who are walking in these dresses have already purchased those attires and in this way some money has already been collected for this good cause," she added. The amount collected will be donated to Shikshaantra, an educational project by Khushii. Yesteryear Bollywood actress Simi Garewal, former cricketer Kapil Dev and Fashion Design Council of India president Sunil Sethi will add glam quotient to the show by walking the ramp. Known for their love for white colour, designer duo Ashima-Leena have designed a cream skirt and a top for Simi Garewal, whose chat show "Rendezvous with Simi Garewal" brought many celebrities out of their closet. The show is supported by international crystal brand Swarovski, watch brand Tag Heuer, fashion brand Christian Dior and herbal beauty brand Tathaastu. IANS
