Los Angeles: Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock`s name is being considered for a feature version of post 9/11 novel `Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close`.
Warner Bros and Paramount have reportedly made the offers to Bullock and Hanks for the movie but the studios are yet to begin formal negotiations on the project.
Based on Jonathan Safran Foer novel and set in 2003, the story centers on a 9-year-old boy who finds a key in a vase that belongs to his father, who perished in the September 11 terrorist attacks, and searches to find the lock that goes with it. Foer`s was one of the first American novels to incorporate the September 11 events into the plot, Variety reported online. Scott Rudin is producing the film and has been developing it since 2005, when `Extremely Loud` was published. Eric Roth has adapted the novel and Stephen Daldry has been roped in to direct the picture. If Bullock, who has had a difficult year following her divorce with Jesse James, signs the movie, it would be her first project since her Oscar-winning role in `The Blind Side`. Hanks will next be seen opposite Julia Roberts in comedy drama `Larry Crowne`, which has also been directed and produced by him. Warner and Par, who previously co-produced F Scott Fitzgerald`s adaptation `The Curious Case of Benjamin Button`, are yet to finalise who will handle the domestic and overseas release of the film. PTI
