Actors miss their siblings on Raksha Bandhan

When the entire nation celebrates Raksha Bandhan, how can tellywood be behind.

Mumbai: It is that time of the year when all boys are scared to their wits fearing no good-looking girl ties a rakhi round their wrist and makes a `bhaiyya` out of them.
However, the same person does also long for their sisters to get the rakhi tied, have sweets and yeah, give gifts too!
When the entire nation celebrates the brother-sister bond on Tuesday, how can tellywood be behind. Though many in TV industry are away from their siblings because of work priorities, every one seemed to be equally excited about Raksha Bandhan. Sushant Rajput who plays Manav in `Pavitra Rishta` says as he is not going to be home for rakhi this year, he is feeling nostalgic. "This year will probably be the first year I will not be at home for Rakhi, so I am going to feel rather nostalgic. As a kid, I was rather scared of the day. After all it’s any boy`s nightmare to have pretty girls come up and tie you a rakhi, Manav confessed. "I have four elder sisters, so you can well imagine how much mithaai I get force-fed on Raakhi day. I always thought I would turn diabetic with the amount of laddoos and kaju katris and halwa that was thrust down my throat," he said. Similarly, Iqbal Khan, Rudra of `Sanjog Se Bani Sangini`, said though they do not celebrate the festival, he still has rakhi sisters. "Well, we do not traditionally celebrate Rakshabandhan at home but I have not one, but two Raakhi sisters," Khan said. "When I was much younger in school, I had a lot of girls tying me rakhis? As we grew up, we grew out of that habit too somehow," he added. Vibha Anand, who plays Sugna in `Balikha Vadhu` says she too would miss her younger brother, who is in Dehradun. "I miss my younger brother who is in Dehradun, my home town. I have been in Mumbai for three years now and courier rakhis, sweets and lots of live to my brother every year on Rakshabandhan," she said. On her on-screen brother Jagya, she says she is getting well with the new actor too after the generation leap in the serial. "I have been a part of Balika Vadhu since the beginning and have tied rakhi to Avinash Mukherjee earlier. I have enjoyed brother-sister chemistry with Shashank too who has replaced Avinash after the leap," she said. Apart from having a real brother, Ratan, who plays Lali in `Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo` also remembers her rakhi brother on this day. "After giving birth to five daughters of which I was the fifth, my mother gave birth to a son... my darling brother! So we all love him a lot...he`s the apple of our eyes!" Apart from my own brother, I have been tying a rakhi to Jay Soni (actor) for the last two years. He is family to me, she said. Nandish Sandhu, who plays Veer in Uttaran, misses not having a real sister. "I do not have a real sister but have many cousins for whom I am the most loved bhaiyya." "Since my entire family is in Dholpur, I do not get time to visit them on festivals due to work. But whenever I go, I make sure I ask my sisters for their wish list and fulfill it to the most," he said. PTI
