Lil Wayne escapes further jail

London: Imprisoned rapper Lil Wayne is reportedly planning to escape further jail confinement after talking to US prosecutors and pleading guilty in a 2008 drugs charge.The 27-year-old rapper began serving a year-long sentence at New York`s Rikers Island prison, after being convicted of criminal possession of a weapon stemming from an incident in July 2007, reported Contactmusic.

The `Lollipop` hitmaker is also involved in another legal case which originated from an incident when authorities allegedly found cocaine, ecstasy and a handgun on his tour bus at a border checkpoint in Dateland, Arizona in 2008. Wayne pleaded not guilty when arrested in 2008, but appeared in an Arizona courtroom on Friday, via a video feed from Rikers Island and entered a guilty plea to one count of possession of a dangerous drug, as part of a plea agreement- with prosecutors in Yuma County Superior Court on Friday morning that could keep him out of jail. The remaining charges shall be dismissed on account of his one confession. PTI
