My film not a remake of `Sahib, Bibi Aur Ghulam`: Tigmanshu

Filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia says his next film `Sahib, Bibi Aur Gangster`, starring Jimmy Sheirgill and Mahi Gill, is not a remake of Guru Dutt`s 1962 movie `Sahib, Bibi Aur Ghulam`.

New Delhi: Filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia says his next film `Sahib, Bibi Aur Gangster`, starring Jimmy Sheirgill and Mahi Gill, is not a remake of Guru Dutt`s 1962 movie `Sahib, Bibi Aur Ghulam`.
Dhulia says his film, starring Jimmy Sheirgill, Mahi Gill and Randeep Hooda, has nothing in common with the old classic about the fall of feudal lords in Bengal. Dhulia, best known for his film `Haasil` on campus politics, says his upcoming movie is a social thriller and delves into the contemporary world. "My film is not a remake of Guru Dutt`s movie. It is a different story. `Sahib, Bibi Aur Ghulam` is an all time classic. Why would I want to remake it? I am more interested in telling new stories," Dhulia told PTI. The director, who finished shooting the film within a month in Gujarat`s Baria area, says film is a story of relationships amid changing social dynamics. "My films are known for their strong political tones because I like to explore how politics impacts the day to day life of people and my new film is no exception," said Dhulia. "`Sahib, Bibi Aur Gangster explores the changing dynamics and relationships in a family of a princely state, which is past its glory. Since they have been rulers it is difficult for them to adjust with the changing socio-political scenario," the director said. Dhulia, who has three films ready --`Shagird`, `Showman`, `Pan Singh Tomar`, plans to release `Sahib, Bibi Aur Gangster` in April next year. His film `Pan Singh Tomar, starring Irrfan Khan in a real-life inspired role of a sportsman turned dacoit, is with UTV and slated to hit theatres in 2011. The director also plans to release Nana Patekar starrer `Shagird`, about a corrupt police official, on February 25. "The release of `Pan Singh Tomar` is upto UTV. They have many more projects but the film will release in 2011. But I am planning to release my film `Shagird` in February," Dhulia said. After working on many hard-hitting projects, Dhulia plans to take a break by making a love story. "I will soon begin my next project `Milan Talkies`, which is a love story," he added. PTI
