`Avatar` movies will not be a trilogy: James Cameron

James Cameron has confirmed that the sequels to 3D blockbuster `Avatar` will not be a trilogy.

London: Oscar-winning filmmaker James Cameron has confirmed that the sequels to 3D blockbuster `Avatar` will not be a trilogy.
Cameron has said that the next two `Avatar` movies will "complete a story arc" but are not a trilogy, reported a website. The director which has commercial hits like `Aliens`, `Terminator` and `Titanic` to his credit, had earlier expressed his desire to explore the waters of Pandora. However, he had also hinted that the sequels of the epic science fiction film, which became the first to gross an estimate of USD 2 billion, will be stand alone projects. "We`re shooting two films back-to-back, so I`m writing two scripts, not one, which will complete a free-film story arc - not really a trilogy, but just an overall character arc so I`m pretty excited about that. "There`s always an expectation. I had to deal with that after `The Terminator` back in 1984. All of a sudden I had a big hit movie and it was, `What are you doing next?` "But my job is take the audience on a journey and entertain them. The second I am sitting down writing, I just go to Pandora. The characters have their own lives," said Cameron. PTI
