Mumbai: Ever since Vishal Bhardwaj has started off with his new project ‘Ishqiya,’ the movie has been dogged by umpteen controversies. Branded as an out and out adult flick, the movie once again came in the eye of storm when the Censor Board did not pass its sleazy promo on air.
According to the latest Bollywood news, Vishal Bhardwaj is not happy as the promo was scheduled to go on air from 20th December. However, Censor Board has asked Vishal to beep the word ‘sex’ from the scene in order to allow the promo go on air. In the promo, the dialogue is mouthed by Arshad Warsi and is addressed to Naseeruddin Shah. Speaking about this whole controversy to a news daily, Vinayak Azad, the Regional Manager of the Censor Board said, “We had initially passed the promo with an ‘A’ certificate for a theatrical release. Now they want a U/A certificate as they wanted it to air on television, which we allowed. Since the impact of the promos is higher on television because it is shown repeatedly, we asked for the word ‘sex’ to be beeped out. I believe they are not happy about it and want to approach the revising committee.” Nevertheless, the director is not impressed by the views of Censor Board as, “It’s sad. Our society is regressing so much that we fear to even utter the word ‘sex’. And this is why India is the worst AIDS-affected country in the world. The people on the board who have objected to the word should remember they are in this world because of sex.”
