London: Hollywood actor George Clooney`s Hope For Haiti Now telethon has raised more than $57 million for the earthquake relief effort.

Hollywood`s elite, including Jack Nicholson, Ben Affleck and Mel Gibson, manned telephones during Friday night`s event, while Alicia Keys, Madonna, Beyonce, Bono and Christina Aguilera were amongst the stars who performed live at one of three venues - Los Angeles, New York and London, reported contactmusic.com. The huge sum raised is a record for telethons according to the Entertainment Industry Foundation and it will be boosted further through the sale of songs performed on the show through iTunes. Clooney, who donated about $1 million of his own money, said: "I hope we made some money out of this. The only way to make this a success is to make a considerable amount of money." IANS
