New York: American socialite Casey Johnson’s death was related to diabetes, the LA County coroner’s office has announced.Johnson, who had been diagnosed with the illness as a child, passed away on January 4 at the age of 30.
The coroner said the heiress’ death had been caused by diabetic ketoacidosis, which is a life-threatening condition caused by a lack of insulin and soaring blood sugar levels. Johnson’s life had been spinning out of control during the last few months of her life as she lived in a suicidal drug haze, amid squalor and cut off from her family fortune. “She was very sick with diabetes and would often fail to take her insulin correctly, and was rushed to the hospital three or four times in the last six months,” a news daily quoted a source as saying.
