`The King`s Speech` to hit Broadway next year

Los Angeles: After winning big at the Oscars this year, `The King`s Speech` is set to hit the Broadway.

Screenwriter David Seidler originally wrote the period piece as a play and now it`s destined for the theatre in the fall of 2012, reported Hollywood News online. The film, which depicted George VI`s struggle to overcome his stammer, will open at Guildford`s Yvonne Arnaud Theater - just miles away from Grayshott in Surrey, where `The King`s Speech` star and Best Actor Oscar winner Colin Firth was born. The play will then move to London`s West End in March 2012 before heading for Broadway at the end of the year. Casting director Gabrielle Dawes has been hired to find actors to play King George VI, his unconventional speech therapist Lionel Logue and others. According to the requirements of Broadway, big names will be required to portray the roles which was made popular by Firth and others in the film. PTI
