Designer Riaz Gangji injured in altercation

Riaz was pushed down by some people from the first floor of a building in Santacruz.

Mumbai: Fashion designer Riaz Gangji sustained injuries after he was, allegedly, pushed down by some people from the first floor of a building in suburban Santacruz in the wee hours of Wednesday, police said. The incident occurred while repair work was going on in the shop of Gangji in Sujata building in Santacruz, they said.

Gangji entered into an argument with the residents of the building, following which they allegedly assaulted the designer and pushed him down from the first floor, police said, adding that he has been admitted to the Lilavati hospital in Mumbai. "We have registered a case of rioting and assault against about 10 to 12 people," senior inspector, Vakola police station, Madhukar Chaudhary said. Further details are awaited. PTI
