London: Indian origin British actress Shobna Gulati has revealed that TV fame from ` Coronation Street` prevented her from finding true love and becoming a mother for the second time.
The 46-year-old joined the soap in 2001 when her son Akshay was six and hoped that he will have a brother or sister for him. But Gulati - who plays Sunita Alahan - struggled to find suitable boyfriends as men could not deal with the pressures of going out with her. She also told the Sun that she can have no more kids, as she had to undergo a sterilisation operation two years ago. Gulati said that one boyfriend of hers was really upset, as a fan wanted to take a photo of her and wanted him to step away. She asserted that she had to then spend ages making her boyfriend`s ego feel better, after which he began to resent her and she had to walk away. She added that this happened with several other boyfriends of hers over the years. Shobna dated Emmerdale actor Gary Turner from 1999 to 2003 and said that it is only recently that she has finally settled down with a steady boyfriend - who is 17 years her junior. ANI
