Samsung offers whopping package of Rs 78 lakh to IIT students; Uber offers Rs 75 lakh as base salary

New Delhi: Blockbuster offers are raining for IIT students at the campus placement season. Big corporate players like Samsung, Uber and Microsoft are offering dream packages to the students.

On Day One of placements Samsung selected around 10 IITians –five from IIT-Bombay and rest from IIT-Delhi and IIT-Kanpur.

While, Uber International was the second big player to dole out massive package of Rs 75 lakh (base salary) at IIT-Madras, Microsoft picked five students from the Powai campus.

Companies coming for campus placement is less this year as compared to last year, as many leading startups Flipkart, Ola and Snapdeal have decided to not take part in the hiring process at IITs.

Recently, Flipkart faced a lot of flak for postponing the joining dates of students hired from IITs and IIMs and  offered Rs 1.5 lakh as an additional joining bonus to all campus recruits to ease their "financial burden" in case they are to pay back loans.

The Bengaluru-based company had however cited restructuring of its businesses as the reason behind the deferring of joining dates for campus recruits from June this year to December.
