Did MS Dhoni trigger drop of Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir from Indian team? Here's the truth!
I feel disappointed when I read reports about Dhoni's relation with Gambhir and Yuvraj, said Patil.
New Delhi: Indian ODI team captain MS Dhoni has often shared blame after senior players like Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir were dropped from the Indian squad.
Yuraj's father Yograj even publicly criticized Dhoni after BCCI snubbed the left-hander during selection on multiple occasions.
Former chief selector Sandeep Patil has now clarified that there was no truth to the perception that Dhoni was instrumental in getting rid of some of the seniors in the Indian team like Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh.
I feel disappointed when I read reports about Dhoni's relation with Gambhir and Yuvraj. Dhoni never opposed their selection," said Patil.
"It was completely the selectors' decision to drop them and Dhoni did not have any say in dropping Gambhir and Yuvraj. Both the captains never opposed any player."
With what the former chief selector has to say, it seems MS was unfairly blamed on numerous occasions.
