New Delhi: He is the leading the scorer in the 10th edition of IPL, and has also a proven match winner for India. But he is out the national team. His name is Gautam Gambhir.

An online campaign demanding Gambhir's inclusion #BringBackGG was started by his fans after the Kolkata Knight Riders skipper's consistent showing with the bat in the T20 tournament.

The immediate global tournament is the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy in England, which starts on May 1. India, thanks to BCCI's protracted fight with ICC over, have delayed the team announcement.

Irrespective of India taking part in the tournament, fans want Gambhir in the national team.

In nine matches, the 35-year-old has scored 376 runs at an average of 62.66 with a strike rate of 136.72.

The opener has won two World Cup trophies — the 2007 World Twenty20 and the 2011 Cricket World Cup. In both the finals, he was the unsung hero, scoring 75 runs from 54 balls at Johannesburg, and 97 from from 122 at Mumbai.

Last year, he briefly made a comeback to Test squad, playing against England at Rajkot in November.

He last played an ODI in 2013, and T20I in 2012.
