Rahul Dravid heaps praise on Virat Kohli, R Ashwin; calls duo modern cricket legends

New Delhi: Mr. Reliable of Indian cricket, Rahul Dravid has been the guiding force for young Indian cricketers off late. The India U-19 cricket team coach expressed his pride on seeing India continuing as a dominating force in cricket despite the exit of legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag, Anil Kumble and of course himself.

While the above mentioned players will be considered as legends forever, Dravid belives that India already have two modern cricket legends at their disposal. Even the rise of Hardik Pandya has been credited to Dravid by BCCI chief selector MSK Prasad.

As quoted by Deccan Chronicle, 43-year-old said, “There will be legends from this generation as well. You’ve just got to give it a bit of time. I think someone like a Virat Kohli is already a legend.”

Nicknamed, the Wall, Dravid also had the same opinion on spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

“Ravichandran Ashwin's performances in the 40-odd Test matches that he has played, I was reading, is better than anyone in the history of the game,” he added.

Dravid also mentioned on how the reach of social media in the modern era accentuates the performance of players who do well.

“You will produce legends. I think stars are the reflection more on the media today. There’s so much instant media or social media available today,” Dravid continued.

Earlier, Dravid, who has scored over 13,000 runs in Tests and more than 10,000 in ODIs, named Aussie great Glenn McGrath as the toughest fast bowler he ever faced despite enjoying some of the brightest moments of his cricketing career against the same opposition.
