New Delhi: Former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist turns 45 today. The explosive wicketkeeper batsman is widely regarded as one of the finest cricketers to have played the game.
Gilchrist represented Australia in 96 Tests and 287 ODIs in which he amassed 5, 5570 and 9, 619 runs respectively.
While he has 33 centuries and 81 fifties to his name in his glittering, he rarely bowled while playing for the country.
However, playing his last Indian Premier League (IPL) for Kings XI Punjab, he was asked to bowl the final over as Mumbai Indians needed 51 runs to win off the final six balls.
Like a true professional, irrespective of the impossible task ahead for Mumbai, Gilchrist took his time to set the fielders exactly where he wanted them to be.
Facing him was Harbhajan Singh, who slog-swept the first ball towards deep midwicket, which was caught by Gurkeerat Singh. The celebration that followed was epic.
Gilchrist first entertained the crowd with some Gangnam style dance, rolled on the floor as the crowd went crazy with him.
