Universe Boss Chris Gayle believes there is one Indian cricketer who can give in-form Virat Kohli a run for his money.

New Delhi: At a time when the cricket fraternity has fallen short of words of praise for Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli, his Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team-mate Chris Gayle reckons there is one Indian cricketer who can give the Delhi batsman a run for his money.

Speaking to The Times of India, the 'Universe Boss' said that Lokesh Rahul was one batsman who is very hard working and can give Kohli a run for his money.

"Rahul is a super player and has been scoring runs in all formats of the game. He is definitely one for the future. Rahul is someone who will be giving Virat Kohli a run for his money, and he works extremely hard on his fitness and on his game. He is definitely going great guns and all he needs to do is keep working hard and the results will follow," Gayle said.

Rahul, who had the reputation of being a Test specialist, was one of the highlights of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016, where he played back-to-back brilliant knocks for RCB.

While the team boasts of some big names in Kohli, Gayle and AB de Villiers, the Karnataka batsman's superb form earned him a spot in India's limited-overs squad as well.

When he was included in Indian squad for the tour to Zimbabwe earlier this year, Rahul grabbed the opportunity with both hands and proved that he is equally consistent in all formats of the game.
