WOAH! Yuvraj Singh takes down Shobhaa De and her ilk with these scathing remarks

New Delhi: Star Indian cricketer on Wednesday voiced his opinion not just about India's star Olympians but also their detractors.

In an interview with CNN News 18, the left-hander hailed the performances of Indian athletes at the recently concluded Rio Olympics.

The Punjab batsman said there was no dearth of talent in India and that proper facilities were the need of the hour.

"I'm very proud of what these girls have achieved. Getting a Silver in badminton is no mean job. You get a Bronze, you get a Silver. Dipa Karmakar comes fourth in gymnastics - you hardly have any facilities for the sport in the country. It's a proud moment for the country. A girl comes from nowhere and finishes fourth. It's a huge honour for the country, and you now know that tomorrow if you give facilities out there to all of India, how much talent can come out" said Yuvi.

The 34-year-old did not shy away from blasting those who indulged in negative commentary during the Rio Games.

"People who haven't played sport, who just do journalism, do not understand what it takes to be a sportsman. It's very easy to write comments when someone has done badly, but they don't know the struggle a sportsperson has gone through. It's easy to comment, but it's difficult to feel what a sportsman is feeling," he further added.

Author and columnist Shobhaa De had termed Team India's trip to Rio as waste of money and opportunity.

After severe backlash, she later backtracked and even apologized for her comments.
