New Delhi: A 24-year-old man died after his bike crashed into the wall of Lady Irwin college on Sikandra Road in Delhi on Monday night.

“A 24-yr-old boy killed after he lost control of his over-speeding bike and hit Lady Irwin College's wall. A case has been registered,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police BK Singh.

A resident of Vivek Vihar in east Delhi, Himanshu Bansal was racing with his friends on a Benelli TNT 600i. He lost control of the bike while trying to save an elderly pedestrian crossing the road, who also got injured in the incident.

Footage recovered from a camera fitted on a co-riders helment shows Bansal's bike hitting the footpath, his face and head crushed due to the impact.

Police took Bansal to the JPN hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.

Bansal's family owns a utensils manufacturing factory at Jhilmil and he worked alongside his father and brother. He was reportedly fond of super bikes and often went out for short trips with his friends.
