Baby`s ashes at charity shop for 10 months

London: A baby`s ashes were found among an anonymous donation left on a charity shop`s doorstep in the east of England.
Anne Chafer, manager of the British Heart Foundation shop in Lincolnshire, opted to put it aside, feeling that someone must have left it by mistake. But it is yet to be claimed by anyone even after 10 months. The ashes were left in a small trinket pot with a baby`s booties pinned to the top, the Daily Express reported. Anne, who alongwith her volunteer charity workers are now making one last effort to reach its owner, said: "At first I couldn`t believe what I was seeing but I was certain after looking properly that the box contained someone`s ashes. "The shape, size and appearance of the box lead us to believe that the ashes are those of a baby and the funeral directors seem to agree." Volunteer Debra Elliott, who sought a local funeral director`s advice, said: "At first I had the idea that we could scatter the ashes somewhere but the funeral director recommended we appeal for someone to come forward." She feels whoever has lost this box would be devastated if that individual never got it back. Will the actual claimant turn up for it is yet to be seen. IANS
