Los Angeles: Country singer John Mayer is ready to revamp his reputation.
The musician, 37, broke his self-imposed interview ban and spoke candidly about his newfound attitude about ditching ego and focusing on the craft, reported People magazine.
"I went, 'All right, dude, you did a couple interviews where you were out of touch and you were being a ham ? and you were basically break dancing into a nitroglycerin plant, right?'" Mayer said.
"I'm a recovered ego addict. The only way that I can be sure that I don't relapse is to admit that I constantly have this ego addiction ? every day," he added.
Mayer has retreated from Twitter and even avoided the post-Grammys media frenzy after his performance with Ed Sheeran in February.
