Michael Buble apologises for Instagram photo

Los Angeles: Singer Michael Buble has apologised after a photograph he posted on Instagram led people to accuse him of body shaming a woman.

The photo showed a woman with her back to the camera wearing shorts, seemingly unaware she was being photographed, reported E! online.

He said in a statement on his Facebook page: "Anybody who knows me would never misinterpret the message of the photo my wife took in Miami that seems to have caused unexpected rage by some people.

"I do not court controversy. But I realise that a photo that was meant to be complimentary and lighthearted has turned into a questionable issue.

"For the record, it hurts me deeply that anyone would think that I would disrespect women or be insulting to any human being."

The 39-year-old singer said he was not brought up to disrespect women and it was not his intention.

"Women are to be celebrated, loved, respected, honoured and revered. I've spent my life believing that and will continue to do so."
