London: Michelle Obama was pictured showing off her tennis skills at the US Open in New York as a part of her ‘Let’s Move’ campaign, which encourages physical activity and is against childhood obesity.
The first lady was dressed in a fitted white jacket and black workout pants while she spoke to children, and also played doubles against Serena Williams along with doing some hula-hooping during her first visit. “I’m not really good or anything like that. That’s the beauty of tennis,” the Daily Mail quoted her as saying. “You don’t have to be good to enjoy it. I love the game, and my skills are very questionable,” she stated. Obama was later seen joining the kids in a tennis video game, table tennis and other activities at an indoor facility at Flushing Meadows designed to get young players excited about the sport. Malivai Washington, Billie Jean King, James Blake, Serena Williams and Katrina Adams joined the 47-year-old lawyer, as well, for the ‘Let’s Move’ event. Obama, along with promoting the cause, praised the US Tennis Association’s efforts to build kid-sized courts around the country and recruit more youngsters to the game. ANI
