Overweight individuals at higher risk of further weight gain

London: As people gain weight, they become more vulnerable to obesity risk factors, which causes them to gain even more weight and become even more susceptible, a new study has found.
Paul Williams of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, California found that certain risk factors like lower education level, parental obesity, and high meat or low fruit diets produce a greater risk for excess body weight for subjects with a higher body mass index (BMI) than for those with lower BMI, the Daily Mail reported. Based on these results, Williams found that environmental factors that cause little or no weight gain in lean individuals may have a much more pronounced effect on those who are already have a higher BMI. The study has been recently published in the online journal PLoS ONE. ANI
