London: Primal Scream will be honored with the title of musical icons at the Silver Clef award ceremony to be held in July.

The Scottish rock band, which was originally formed in 1982 by Bobby Gillespie and Jim Beattie, had gained mainstream attention with their 1991 album Screamadelica, and said that the icon award "a real honor," the BBC reported.

Meanwhile, Rita Ora will be named best female, while music producer Mark Ronson will receive this year's innovation award.

The Silver Clef awards will mark their 40th anniversary this year, and have raised 8.5 million pounds to fund music therapy for vulnerable and isolated people across the UK.

The prizes will be given at a lunch in London on 3 July.
