Mumbai: Comic legend Stan Lee has lived up to the promise of creating an Indian superhero post the blazing success of some of his other creations like Spider-Man, X-Men, Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk in the Indian market. To cater to the taste and sensibilities of the Indian masses, Stan Lee has offered Chakra – The Invincible.
Unveiling its first look, Lee, the former president and chairman of Marvel Comics said, “India didn’t have any superhero of its own that had global fame. I wanted to fill up that void.”
Set against the backdrop of Mumbai, it’s the story of a tech genius, Raju Rai, who develops a technically-enhanced suit that activates the mystical chakras of the body, unleashing newfound abilities and powers. And it may not be long before we see him joining the rest of his superhero clan in movies.
The Chakra series, which will be available in both digital and printed comic versions by the end of this year, is an attempt by Lee to catch the imagination of English, Hindi and Tamil-speaking comic buffs.
On being asked if he is coming down to India, Lee said, “Yes, I really want to. India is a very warm nation, and I am especially fond of Indian food, so I am really really looking forward to that visit.”
