London: London 2012 Olympic organizers are planning to introduce turbans and headscarves as part of their official staff uniforms.
The move comes as they want to cater for workers of all faiths and are therefore taking advice from religious leaders. Clothing items that have been discussed include turbans, headscarves and long-sleeved T-shirts for those whose religions require them to keep covered, Express.co.uk reports. The Reverend Duncan Green, multifaith adviser to Olympic organiser Locog, said that London is a diverse city comprising of all religions and cultures, and uniforms should reflect this diversity. “London is a hugely diverse city, a melting pot of religions and cultures. The design of the uniforms needs to reflect this. We have consulted religious leaders of all the major faiths,” it said. ANI
