Washington: Rare black and white photos of ‘ The Beatles’ first ever gig in the U.S. will reportedly go under the hammer at Christie`s on 20 July in New York.
The photographs are expected to fetch a total of 100,000 dollars. The group played their first full live gig at Washington Coliseum in Washington, D.C. Photographer Mike Mitchell had captured the historic occasion on camera, which he would now sell as a series of 50 silver gelatimn prints from his negatives. In addition, the shots taken at the band`s gig at the Baltimore Civic Center in Maryland on 13September 1964 are also up for sale. The auction house`s pop culture consultant, Simeon Lipman admitted that the pictures would be must-haves for die-hard Beatles fans. “They`re very close-up, very animated. The light is very interesting. They`re very intimate shots,” a website quoted him as saying. ANI
