`Sarabhai vs Sarabhai` too can be made into a movie: Majethia

Actor-producer J D Majethia, whose hugely popular TV series `Khichdi` is soon going to hit the big screens, feels even his other serial `Sarabhai vs Sarabhai` can be transformed into a movie.

Mumbai: Actor-producer J D Majethia, whose hugely popular TV series `Khichdi` is soon going to hit the big screens, feels even his other serial `Sarabhai vs Sarabhai` can be transformed into a movie.
"Yes, why not. Even `Sarabhai vs Sarabhai` has the potential to be transformed into a movie. However, a decision to this effect is subjected to the response `Khichdi` receives
from the audience," Majethia told reporters. The movie is slated for October release. While `Khichdi` traces the happenings in crazy Parekh family, `Sarabhai vs Sarabhai` was the story of an unorganised, indisciplined middle-class daughter-in-law`s encounters with her elite mother-in-law leading to umpteen comic situations. On how the idea to convert `Khichdi` into a movie struck him, Majethia said he was just keeping the promise they had given to the audience. "We had promised the audience to return. Since, comedy movies are flavour of the season, we too decided to encash it," he said. The challenge was to weave a logical story to make it an at least two-hour-long movie. However, the audience should treat the movie like a sequel to the serial, he added. "Also, our aim is to attract newer and newer audience with `Khichdi`. We want people to come in groups and watch our movie so that they enjoy it more even after leaving the theatre," he added. "If this works, the premise permits us another sequel. However, we will take a call on it only after considering the response this movie receives," he said. On budget of the movie, Majethia said it is a medium budgeted flick. "I deliberately did not approach anyone as then I would have been asked to take a star cast of their choice, which was not possible as the characters and actors playing them are well-etched in audience`s memory," he said.
