Mumbai: Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who is currently working on ‘Shagird’, has turned teacher for veteran actor Nana Patekar, who plays a real-life inspired role in the film. Nana’s role is based on the life of encounter specialist, the late Rajbir Singh for Tigmanshu Dhulia`s ‘Shagird’. Apparently, Anurag made Nana understand the character of Rajbir the encounter specialist and explained him the character personally. A source revealed to a daily, "He met the encounter specialist some years back and was inspired and awestruck by him. He`d explain his style and demeanour to the veteran actor, helping him to get into the skin of his character seamlessly." Kashyap, who has won accolades for his work as a filmmaker, will be seen playing a complete role in a film for the first time. However, he has done cameo roles before but with ‘Shagird’ we will see him play an independent character in the film. Speaking to a tabloid, Tigmanshu said, “Yes I am aware that Anurag had earlier met a few cops from crime branch of Delhi including Rajbir Singh. But that was much before our shooting of the film and not in connection with our film.” “Nana Patekar plays ACP Hanumant Singh in the film. We did a lot of our research for this character. His role incorporates several nuances noticed in Delhi police,” added the director. Well, with the versatile cast and depiction of real-life characters, ‘Shagird’ is a must watch on our list already!
