Mumbai: Actor Arshad Warsi decided to choose Vishal Bharadwaj`s much-awaited `Dedh Ishqiya` over Raj Kumar Hirani`s `Peekay` following date issues.
Hirani was keen on signing Arshad for `Peekay` after the success of the `Munnabhai` series, but the actor could not accomodate the film in his schedule.
"Rajkumar Hirani wanted me to do `Peekay`. Unfortunately, the dates of `Dedh Ishqiya` and `Peekay` were clashing. And I had to choose one project. So I decided to go with `Dedh Ishqiya`," Arshad told reporters here last night at an event.
`Peekay` stars Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma and Sushant Singh Rajput in lead roles.
The 44-year-old actor is now looking forward to the release of his upcoming comedy flick `Jolly LLB`.
When asked why he chooses to do more of comedy films, Arshad says, "I think there is a lot of pain every where around and laughter is the best medicine. I want people to have fun, laugh out. Out of ten movies that I am offered eight are comedies but still in that zone I choose to do something different."
Directed by Subhash Kapoor of `Phas Gaya Re Obama` fame, `Jolly LLB` will see Arshad and Boman Irani playing the role of lawyers who are pitted against each other for a case.
The film also stars Amrita Rao as Arshad`s love interest.
