Mumbai: Terming the trend of sequels as `healthy`, filmmaker Sajid Khan, who assures that the sequel of `Housefull` would be ten times funnier than the first in the series, says the Box Office record inspired him to make the sequel.
"Of the 148 films made this year, my film `Housefull` stands out among the six hit films. It is the Box Office that tells you what should be done next. Almost 90 per cent of the audience liked my film...the success encouraged me to give another film on the same lines," Sajid told reporters. The 39-year-old director is busy penning down the script of `Housefull 2`, whose shooting will start from mid 2011 and will be released in early 2012. "As the expectations are double I am working more hard on the screenplay. I assure it will be ten times superior then the initial version," Sajid said. The director-cum-host has finalised Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and John Abraham for `Housefull 2` and for the female actors he said he will soon finalise them. About sequels, Sajid said, "It is a healthy trend. Lot of Indian filmmakers are doing up sequels and it is proving beneficial. As there are bound be more expectations so has to put in more efforts to ensure the audience is not disappointed." "I make films for people and not myself. My funda is to make those films that people `want to see` rather than the ones which people `need to see`," he said. PTI
