New Delhi: Actor Tusshar Kapoor, whose ‘Kya Super Kool Hain Hum’ had run into controversies because of its bold content, feels that the whole chaos surrounding the trailer has worked in the film`s favour.
The movie and its trailer got an A certificate as the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) refused to grant the trailer of the film a U or even a U/A certificate without the makers deleting some scenes.
The production team then worked on a fresh new trailer while releasing the earlier one on the internet.
"It worked in our favour as it gave us an opportunity to show different trailers and not stick to just one. And with the access to internet, uncensored trailer was put on YouTube so we didn`t face any problems in terms of publicity. I think today internet is the best way to promote a film. We got great responses from the uncensored trailer as well as the censored one," Tusshar told PTI.
The movie is a sequel to the 2005 release "Kya Super Kool Hain Hum", and stars Tusshar, Ritesh Deshmukh, Neha Sharma and Sarah Jane Dias. It hits the theatres on Jul 27.
Tusshar, 35, says he doesn`t understand why some people have issues with this film when they are quite comfortable watching a Hollywood sex comedy.
"People can watch films like `American Pie` but have problem with this film. They are all cynical and these are all double standards. And we have been very open from the start saying that this film is for certain audience and not meant for the kids.
"Youngsters want to watch such films and they are mature enough to understand. Some people will always have problems and they just need a reason, I don`t care about such people," he said.
Although there is a gap of seven years between the first film and the sequel, Tusshar says he was equally excited to do the film and had a blast shooting for the film.
"We were waiting for the right script to come. We wanted to surpass the expectations of the people with this one. It`s not easy to make a sex comedy. The script should have a soul it should identify with people. `Kya Kool..` is pioneer in sex comedy.
"I was as excited to do this one as I was before, I liked the script and I think Sachin (director) has done a fabulous job. It`s not easy to make the audience laugh for two hours."
The movie is directed by Sachin Yardi and produced by Tusshar`s brother Ekta Kapoor.
The actor says his father Jeetendra doesn`t mind him doing such cinema.
"Dad is happy with the film and he has been a commercial actor himself so he understands what the audience wants and what works. He has no problems with me doing such films and we do watch such movies together and there is no embarrassing moment between us," he added.
Tusshar, who has been in the industry for more than a decade, is mostly known for his multi starrers like "Gomaal", "Shor In The City" and "The Dirty Picture".
Some of his solo films have failed to create magic at the box office and the actor says he will be more careful with picking up his next solo project.
"I would be more careful when taking up a solo project now. I would love to do a solo film but also it doesn`t matter if the movie is a multi-starrer or a solo because what matters is how are you contributing towards the project.
"And with solo projects it`s not only the script that matters but also the producer and director. I have learnt from my mistakes in the past and will be more focused now,"he said.
