Mumbai: After Malaika Arora Khan and Katrina Kaif, the latest B-town hottie bitten by item number bug is none other than leggy Deepika Padukone.
Buzz has it that Deepika will be a part of a scintillating item song in Rohan Sippy’s ‘Dum Maro Dum’. It is believed that Deepika pipped Katrina, Priyanka and Kareena to get the makers to choose her to shake her booty on the title track of the film.
While Bipasha is part of the cast, Deepika will be seen only for an item number. Apparently, Rohan Sippy was considering other names but when he got an overwhelming response for Deepika, he locked her in.
Talking to a daily, a source said, “Deepika wasn`t even in talks with Rohan regarding the ‘Dum Maro Dum’ item song. However, when Deepika`s name started doing the rounds Rohan got positive response, from trade and people alike."
Interestingly, this will be Deepika`s first item number that will be used for promotional purpose.
Explaining the song, the source continued, “Deepika has agreed to be a part of the song, for Rohan. The song will be shot next week and isn`t in the ‘Munni’ or ‘Sheila’ league, but rather contemporary and extremely urban.”
When contacted Sippy, he confirmed the reports and said, “Yes Deepika will be doing the ‘Dum Maro Dum’ remix song. The song will have a contemporary feel to it. We are shooting next week. We are very excited to have Deepika on board. Pritam is remixing the song,”
Rohan Sippy’s ‘Dum Maro Dum’ will release on 22nd April 2011 and stars Abhishek Bachchan, Rana Daggubatti and Bipasha Basu.
