Documentary film festival in Madurai from December 7

Madurai: The 12th five-day Madurai International Documentary and Short Film Festival would be held from December 7.

The festival, organised by" Marupakkam" a film movement based here, would feature 140 films from US, Japan, Australia, UP, Spain, Brazil, Germany, France and Italy besides from hosts India, organisers said.

Discussions would be held every evening during the festival involving writers, film makers, critics and cinematograpers. A painting exhibition would also be held at Madurai College, the venue of the festival.

To promote Tamil film makers, an exclusive screening venue was being planned where only Tamil short films and documentaries dealing with human rights will be screened.

The best films selected during this festival will get the Sarath Chandren Memorial award, head of the media research centre of the college R Murali said.
